Welcome to Jellyneo's Petpet Park guide! Our guide is currently in archive mode, meaning that we will not be updating any part of the guide going forward.
Thanks to everyone who has used our guide over the years!
Petpet Park Guide: Archive Mode
posted on February 21, 2014, 5:54 pm NST by Dave
Hello fellow Park citizens! Unfortunately, I regret to be posting that our Petpet Park Guide will be officially entering archive mode as of today. We've been thinking long and hard about our Petpet Park coverage, and we came to the conclusion that we simply cannot give you the proper coverage you deserve.
This simply means that we will no longer be making any updates to our Petpet Park Guide moving forward. However
, there is one exception! We will continue to add new items to our Park item database as time allows. The rest of the content that is already up here on the guide will continue to be available--we just won't be updating it.
Why did you decide this?
There were multiple factors. The first of which is that we found it very difficult to find staff members who would be willing to help update our guide. As you probably know, Petpet Park is aimed at a younger-than-Neopets demographic, and most of our staff members are well above that age demographic.
Another reason was that over the past year, we've seen a steep decline in the number of visitors to our guide. So, we're going to be pulling the few remaining staffers who contributed and instead put them in other places around JN where they can work on things more of our users visit.
But you're keeping items?
Yep! We will continue to add items to the database. Out of all the areas, it's the most visited part of our guide, so stay tuned to JN for all your Petpet Park item needs. :)
Over the next few months, we will slowly transition the guide to look more like an "archive" and less like it's supposed to continue to be updated. We would also like to revamp our item portion a bit, and instead place the focus there, which we will continue to update.
Umm, can you still post the boards about the quest chains on Neopets?
Because if you would, that'd be help for us.
Aww, we will miss the old guide.
If it's staffs you need, i would be glad to help.
I'd also like to apply for a staff.
Yes JN, don't stop Neopian updates!

To be fair the guides aren't really that useful anymore since the quests have become simple "talk to X" or fetch quests with a single NPC directing the activities for the month. And since new quests retire at the end of the month anyway there's not much point in referring back to them after the month is over. The board on the Neoboards is useful though.
The main exception being things like the NC quest items and what items those quests award, but there it would really be more efficient to simply have a link to the resulting item in the quest item's database page.
I agree I've noticed a big drop in the number of Petpet Park players on the neoboards. Maybe there are still players on Petpet Park itself but at the very least the overlap has mostly vanished.
I'll admit that is a little disappointing. I came on here for both the Neopets and Petpet Park coverage, but after I came on there seemed to be less and less as time passed. I even started doing my own walkthroughs for just for fun, after the "Jobs" section was pretty much ended.
I do understand the reason for this, but I would like to know if this will add more to the database. Can there at least be a way to search the database for non-member items similar to the way you can search for non-NC items?
Oh, dear! I loved the Petpet Park Guide - even though it hasn't really ever updated quite quickly enough, it's the only one I've found that even still updates on a reasonable basis!
Though, keeping the items guide is good. It's true, it is the only near complete item database in the entire parks history, and I don't think that it would even be possible at this point for anyone to begin to start one from scratch. It is also the part I use the most often, after all. I've been at the park since closed beta, and I shall miss the extra help of this helpful guide - even if the jobs guide rarely updated on time.
Also, I of course have some suggestions for making the items section more useful. There are some things that work, but we sort of need an advanced search or something. I can't look up "Bed" without finding every single membership item ever released because it has the word "subscribed" in its item notes. If you eventually do have the chance to work on this, it would be extremely useful. Maybe a no NC and no Membership item checkbox like we have for the normal Item Database so we can use them for ever search, too, whenever you decide to do a major overhaul. I can wait another four or five years, or however long it has taken me to procrastinate applying, or the park to not add a "block pals requests" option.
Oh, and while I'm still typing lengthy paragraphs, I'll chatter about the age demographic and the drop in players. While I know the park is aimed towards around eight to twelve year olds, there are also a great number of players above that age range. I can only really speak for the avid bunch of chatters around and the pets at the gatherings, but most of the petpets I know don't visit the neoboards for park news - I don't think that most of them don't actually play neopets much. I'll explain what I've witnessed from my time at the park, and feel free to correct and contradict me. There are lots of types of park players, but I'll try to explain a few general demographics. First there are the original, older players and those dragged over here from Neopets, who have of course declined over the years. Either they've quit the park, or don't have much time for it or visit it as often anymore, and seeing as these people were probably amongst the most
amongst the most likely to use Jellyneo regularly, might be the reason why there is such a huge drop in visitors.
Then there are the petpets who are mainly at the park to chat: often they end up quitting in a couple of years as they either outgrow it or don't have as much time anymore.
Of course, there are lots of petpets who are at the park and do quests, but mostly lurk in the background and who you rarely ever see.
Then there are the petpets who log on once or twice, and are never seen again - how I suspect Petpet Park reached 10 million users: I sincerely doubt that there are 10 million accounts that log on regularly.
Finally, there are the few petpets who stick with the park and, through all this, still visit. By this time we probably know a lot about the park and don't actually need to use a lot of this guide anymore. Of course, we still use the item guide, and sometimes have use of quest help, too. I'm going to guess that most of the people and petpets who visit
I'm going to guess that most of the people and petpets who visit anymore are like this. Which is most likely why you don't see us as much anymore: you've helped us out, Jellyneo staff, and enabled us to find everything without needing to use your guide.
Thank you for sticking around, all of you here at Jellyneo, and helping us with all of our Petpet Park problems and petty squabbles over when things happened and where such and such items were for Mellee or Kripske. You've helped many a person over the years, and you'll be well-remembered and continue to be well-referenced.
I have heard very little about the transition from beta to regular version of Petpet park, but I would like to know what happened.
I had an account during beta, but stopped when there were no more quests. I figured I would go back after a while when more "jobs" had been released. By the time I returned beta was officially over and my old account seemed to be gone.
What I'm asking is can there be an article like some of the ones on regular jellyneo describing what happened during the switch over from beta to regular. For example I had heard something about a two day re-sign up thing from that time, (exactly what was that)?
When, at the time, I had seen others saying that some accounts had been lost.
Even if this had not happened to some people I think it would be interesting to learn, for those of us who weren't there, to know what happened.
Dear Rubydragon, I think I can clarify. You would have been at the park during Closed Beta. I don't know for sure when it began, but sign ups started sometime between the end of the Petpet Park plot timeframe during 2008 and January of 2009. Other than that, I can only verify things that happened from when I joined around mid-March of 2009 onwards.
The park was taken down for about a week at the end of April and it was announced that they would be purging all of the account information from Closed Beta, (all the accounts from when the original sign-ups began through then) and there would be a two-day time (May 2nd and 3rd, I think) that only people from Closed Beta could sign-up again, and they could claim the same petpet name. Everyone who re-signed up then got the Beta Tester clothing items. Soon afterwards sign-ups were open to the public, and everyone who joined between then and June 1st were given the Patchwork Hat. Everything onwards is pretty much considered post-Beta. Gr
Gradually they phased out all references to Open Beta, and eventually petpets started asking me what "beta" was whenever I mentioned it.
The NC Mall opened in July, and Jellyneo's park guide also debuted sometime in 2009.
If you do need any more Petpet Park facts, though I'm not always 100% sure about the exact dates, especially the early open beta ones, feel free to ask! I've spent way too many hours at the park, and have picked up piles of information over the years!
I'll miss your guide!! Thanks while it was still around!
Thanks for the info morganjoisle.
I wish the re-sign up period had been a little better known at the time.
I miss some of my old items like my silver New Years dress. ( But I am glad they have not brought it back, they probably would have just made it a member item)
But at least when I made my new account I was able to keep the same name.
Thanks for the suggestions regarding items, guys.
It sounds like there are a few easy things we could knock out there in the future.
@morganjoisle I agree with you. Over 10 Million Users are in Petpet Park. What makes me laugh is that I wonder if Petpet Park gets money for every account created so people play it and wish they have enough money to make new hi-tech features.
Then they'll always log on a private server everyday to check if they got what they wished. But would history in P3 be sensible enough to make that happen? o_O
I'm sure, that 3000k of them are the ones who log on a few times and quit or rarely log on. I doubt there being 10 Million people in P3. But in Neopets? Ok, I'll note that down.
In Beta P3 it was one thing but now in Generation 3? No no no, I doubt that. There were 7000k users who played it. Oh well, happens to all games. First, Beta Stage, New Pay To Get Currency Stage then Membership Stage. xD
Dear Jellyneo, could you make a new search feature for the item database like in your Neopian database? That would help me spend NC
Or, do you really think you could make a P3 Wardrobe App?

Regarding 10 million users: some, maybe a lot of those are people from Neopets that went to Petpet Park for the free NC a while back. A lot of them didn't stay beyond that point simply because the game didn't appeal to them.
It's the same the other way around. Park players joining Neopets only for the NC. I've managed to get at least 2 players to actually enjoy Neopets. It's progress. For the 10 million users, it's probably lowered down a whole bunch. About the suggestions, i agree. They would be a great add-on for an archive. The Neopets IDB is very useful to me so if you can make PPP Archive similar would be great.
@sparkle I agree that it is sad. After all, Neopets has better items and even gives NC for joining the Altador Cup!
Why does the Petpet Park NC Mall say an item will be available through a certain date when it seems to be the day before that it disappears from the mall?
I think that a good addition to the Item Database would be to specificly state if an item needs a NC purchase to start the quest.
The quest for Sapphire Heart Necklace, Heart Gem Tiara in Enchantville never came up for me but the quests for the mailbox and cape did. So I was wondering if a purchase was required to start those quests.
Right now the Database will tell you the name of the quest, but not if the quest requires you to buy a NC item, (not counting access keys). The older quests with guides will tell you if you click on the name of the quest, but the newer quests don't really seem to have this.
Some do say they are a NC item from an Access Area, but do not necessarily require another NC purchase.
To be clear, I do think that would be a helpful, additional feature to the IDB for NC Quests.
Oh! And I have something to ask the Almighty Closed Beta Players; does half price day in the NC Mall happen or is it just a rumor? Because I have half the amount of NC needed to buy a tattoo or something (usual cost 50NC)
Voicing my thoughts about the age demographic, I don't seem to be bothered of the age of who I add. Anyways, I think there should be a Block Pal Requests button because I strongly dislike receiving requests from inactive players who I never had a conversation or two with. I think it happens to high levelled players or it's just a plain coincidence. I doubt the staff (park) aren't willing to set up a well arranged trading system, gifting system or make a new area so people can hangout.
Well maybe some of us imagine them being Genies in Bottles while others don't want to pressurize them. Ellina can't carry the heavy load in her backpack!
Not only that but I get additional lag in the busy servers so I have to keep it in my vault.
In regard to NC Mall sales, if there ever was an entire mall half price day it was way back when, and I probably missed it. There have been Super Sales, though, like the ones on Neopets. To my memory, though, there have only ever been two or three of them in the entire park's history. They were both at least two or three years or so ago, one was sometime in May and the other in a November... I know it was a long while back, and that I've been stuck with the odd number of an extra 1 in my NC total ever since. I wouldn't count on these, though.
Fortunately, the mall does sometimes do half prices on certain seasonal things. Unfortunately, it's usually after I have already bought whatever it is I was going to buy. The winter home stuff has been on sale a couple of times, some of the summer stuff was about a year and a half ago... They do these every so often, and I'd expect at least a couple of these promotional type sales to show up in the next year or so.
And of course, to the "WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO BLOCK PALS REQUESTS" request, (Which might not be your exact quote, per say) I've been bugging the experts about this every other gathering since the modern pals list was in the works. When I kindly ask them "when will we be able to block pals requests q" Malrone usually doesn't know, and, after looking for my screenies from 2012 had responded "yeah" "i know" "i'm sorry" "there is just too many issues happening in the park"; funny, I could have sworn he was the one who said they were working on those... My memory can't be that selective! Miriki has informed me that they either aren't working on these right now, or "not yet" and I really never visit Corrihan or Tassyana nowadays, though I do ask them whenever I see them. If anyone here at Jellyneo would like to persuade them about this matter at the next Jellyneo Con, please, feel free to d
If anyone here at Jellyneo would like to persuade them about this matter at the next Jellyneo Con, please, feel free to do so!
I don't think it's just high level players. I usually get the random pals requests from people who haven't even said "hi" to me, (not to mention the petpets who either keep on saying hi or end up getting angry when I don't say anything back beyond a plain old normal hi, insist we're ignoring them, and insult me) and whenever I'm in a zone with other players nearby. And then there are the people who keep on asking you to accept their pals requests! We need a permanent block pals request, or something, so that way I can calmly inform them, "no, i'm afraid that i cannot ever accept another pals request". Oh, well, the "my pals list is full" reasoning works too, and the experts have had to address annoying petpets telling them to "just erase one" enough times that it isn't a problem for us ev
Oh, well, the "my pals list is full" reasoning works too, and the experts have had to address annoying petpets telling them to "just erase one" enough times that it isn't a problem for us everyday petpets.
I do apologize for my Standard Chat speak, but, after all, petpet park still doesn't have capitalization.
Ranting is absolutely delightful! Gotta love it when your comment takes three posts!
I don't think they could very easily do a wardrobe app. On Petpet Park we can't search petpets by names and our outfits don't have any URLs, my accessories and handhelds sections already take around two minutes to scroll all the way through, and even if I do have just about the largest closet in the entire park, I certainly don't own every wearable ever created. A closet application would be a nightmare to scroll through, even if it was vault style. Then again, I'd bet that at least at Jellyneo it would be less laggy! If you ever consider such a project, whether this very day or some fifteen years from now, though, do inform me, for I have a closet overflowing with clothing items and tons of screenshots!
I agree with all of these ideas. Though I usually talk a lot, there isn't much left to say.
PPP staff hasn't really had any big updates and despite the many requests we have been asking them for who knows how long, none of those are really happening. As for the updates on Jn, it's a work in progress and I will wait for however long it takes.
Unless it's over 5 or 10 years. Can't promise you then.
P.S. I have never spelled "cow" like "kau" but i have made the mistake of spelling my numbers wrong. Capitalization isn't the problem for me.
I think I just add them, block them and remove them so they won't be able to do anything. Cruel, but unfortunately I have no other option.
When member or non newbie adds newbie, newbie states that this is irresistable and visits person everywhere.
But if newbie adds member, member denies with an annoyed face.
My vault is overloaded with Boy Haircuts and shells. If they could make a remove from backpack option, you won't have to visit the vault dozens of times.
When a person skips by and says "Hey sup?" I try to give a big response but no, Petpet Park's chat filters are restricting me. So I erase it and type something else, but the amount of lag in a busy server is high and refuses to allow me type or enter as the desktop hesitates. So then, I just use the Easy Chat's "Hi" as the capitalization looks neat and the Easy Chat's other phrases provide good punctuation. But in the person's opinion, I am ignoring him/her and my reply is insufficient.
Me and my pals were discussing about trading the unwanted color bottles and duplicate clothing items from the Fashion Wheel that almost overflow our closet. I think the reason why Park players won't open a spick and span trading post is that the people will stop buying NC; why buy access keys when you can trade them?
BTW, I love the idea of a brand new site feature! *fluffs up tail like a bottle brush* It's been forever since they ever added anything
exciting! Biscuits and Gravy anyone?
And Jellyneo, I think I have the patience to fill up this with 200 messages as time passes. When next Halloween in 2015 passes by, Jellyneo will get nice and raw. Like Pumpkin Goop.
Also, let's have a chat about customization! Petpet Park artists are becoming stylists. Has anyone made up their decision for their Leprechaun (or Green) Day outfits? I haven't even decided my hat. What a procrastinator I am
Enough of my mushy gushy dress. Now the clover items caught my eyes.
I think it should be like Neopets, where you need to buy NC to gift NC. :p Except then there is the problem of everything on PPP being an NC item, even the wheel of fashion has the mall sign on it. It would pose a lot of problems but i think it would help a lot. I have almost 2000 items in my vault and backpack combined. It makes a lot of lag. I would love to delete the trickets and such, but it keeps saying i can't. I have to try a whole bunch to get rid of only 1 item. We need a skeith at the park...they eat everything. :p
No...Grarrls eat everything. :p And they never spit it out like in Hungry Skeith.
Hmm, why not both? *music plays* :p
Then we need a game called Hungry Grarrl where the Grarrl isn't fussy about his food :p.
It would be nice to be able to delete the things directly from our backpack. Unfortunately, I'm more of a hoarder, which is probably how I ended up with over 100 backpack pages...
I think I know why they made it so we can't erase NC items, probably in case a petpet park account ever became compromised or the like. I mean, we can't really trade, and since vaults are already super laggy, there thankfully isn't really much someone could do beyond changing haircuts and colours and possibly erasing some rare, retired park point items. Which has happened to some of my less than level-headed pals, and of course the whole chatting with the person's friends... Yeah, poor dears, those made for some interesting arguments... I tried explaining many of the terms and conditions to my old pals back at chocolate server, but the "Never, EVER give out your word to Anyone" thing was one of them that for some reason, I have my doubts on them following...
The Park Gathering This Week Has Been Cancelled!
"Because of the experts’ busy schedules, they can only hang out every other week for now, so there won’t be an official gathering today. They all miss you and look forward to seeing you next week!"
Jellyneo, my favorite Neopets and Petpet Park help-site of all time, do you think you could possibly throw another park gathering sometime? Preferably today?
I'm certain that every single one of you can't all be too busy that someone couldn't log on for an hour tonight at Jelly server. Or some other week or month or sometime in the next year?
Aww, waiting 1 week is already bad enough. Now 2? If you (Jellyneo) held a gathering that would be awesome.
Meeting the creator's of this wonderful site. Or the people who manage it. :p
Gee, everyone sure is busy here. Even in the vacation there's business.
Maybe they use their vacation for work? That'd be kinda sad. I would hate using my vacation for work.
*Pops out of nowhere*
Oh?! Oh. I'm being honest here, I will surely miss this guide.
I was inactive in both Neopets and Jellyneo (and obviously this guide) since real life and school has clung onto me like a stubborn parasite and will refuse to let go.
I remember the time I helped with the guide of one of the mini-games (sword of the cyodrake king) and I was so excited to see it on this guide. I still have another mini-game guide at my pet's lookup that I planned to show to you guys but I sort of forgotten about it.
(Also, I tried to apply for the Park Writer position once but it didn't go so well)
Oh? Writing is the only position open? Okay then...*scratches head* Writing isn't my best quality.
Maybe if i had to give an update on items or quests then sure, but not writing.

Why not add opening positions for those who wish to continue to supporting the guide? A lot of people who still play want to help.
Time for Petpet Park to enter JumpStart's hands.
Forgive me if this has been mentioned already, but what I think Petpet Park should do is make it easier to delete unwanted items...for example if you have 10, ( or more), items you want to get rid of that they could let you bulk delete items. The current one item deleted at a time system is not very efficient, especially with a laggy computer.
I do wish that Petpet Park would be a little less member focused it might bring more people in. I mean look at regular Neopets the stuff you pay for with real world money, ( NC, Membership), adds to the experience if you choose, if not there is still a lot to do. Sure the wheel in fashion field was definitely a good move, but there seems so little for Non-Members especially in the shops outside of the access areas.
Also for data base up dates I did a walkthrough for lighting up the clover in Lucky Valley and the Rainbow Paper Crown, Lucky Rainbow Collar items don't seem to be given out any more.
By the way, the Rainbow Mystery Cap. is worth a bargain!
@atb224: We were hiring for Park basically all the time, but we didn't get all that many applicants
, 03/31/2014, 10:35 pm NST
I remember the first time I was hired like it were yesterday. I will never forget working on building the guide with the original crew; there were many, MANY sleepless nights. It's continual growth over time (and more sleepless nights xD) with new staff will forever be something I hold onto in my heart! Working for JN in general was an amazing part of my life with a lot of great times and memories.
Thank you to all of our followers for your support and help in ultimately making the Guide what it is today. I'm sad to see it go, but I'm thankful for all it has given me!
I will forever be in love with this Guide, and JN.

I remember there was a half price day once or twice back when the mall was just newly added to Petpet Park, but that's really up to the Park staff.
Petpet Park needs a better management/organization system in general. Regardless of whether you want to delete or just move items it's pretty tedious doing things one at a time. I know this is an issue that's been around since the beginning (or at least since the Vault was added) so I guess it's not that easy to solve.
Seeing as Petpet Park is closing probably forever soon anyways, I guess I should be thanking Jellyneo for switching this guide to archive mode now. Thanks Jellyneo. If you want 20,000 screenshots of the park, rofl, now would be the time to ask for them.
Be sure to warn your pals who don't check Neopets or Jellyneo if they are online before the park itself announces the tragic news.
I think the park should have already announced the news of the site ending.
On another note I do have many screen shots of wearables and haircuts, I kept a record of many the outfit changes for Petpet mainly for my own amusement.
I will be putting these screen shots in the " one last walk around the park" video, which will hopefully be up by tomorrow.
Hey. Just wanted to check up here.
It's still quite empty and I wish PPP lasted for more time.
@icygirl2005__: *waves* Hi there! I've still got the park guide bookmarked after all these years.
Jn's guide was the only Petpet Park guide I used back in the day, and I love that they've kept it up as an archive. Even if I don't use it terribly often, I still use the item database for art references sometimes when I feel like sketching one of my friends' old petpets.
I should probably be more surprised than I am it that there were nearly two years of no new comments being added here. That's kind of unnerving, actually.
There are 58 comments above. Why not post yours?
