Rather uncomfortably, I mut say. there is a ghost in the tunnels below that never stops wailing. He seems louder than usual today.

Ooh, a ghost? How exciting!

It is not that exciting, unfortunately. In fact, it's rather tragic. He used to be a knight of this tower, but his greed led him astray. He ventured into the tunnels to search for yhe rumored treasure and never returned. He wanders the dark mazes still, his cries echoing their long corridors.

Oh. That is pretty tragic.

To think that he so sorely neglected his oath of knighthood! I would gladly let him wail away his sorrows, but the noise really gets to one's nerve after awhile.

Maybe I can convince him to stop.

Now, let's find that ghost! Head over to the Wailing Tunnels and look for Sir Lastahad. He can be found in The Wailing Tunnels (Wailing Tunnels chamber 1.)

My entire life is disgraced, and I am fated to be forever unsatisfied. I allowed greed to blind me. I deserted my knightly duties to search for treasure in these tunnels, and now I remain forever lost. Woe! WOOOOEEEEEE!!!

Do you have to spend forever crying?

I am doomed to wallow in my sorrows forever, doomed to forever regret forsaking my post. Doomed to never discover the treasure. Doomed to forever wonder about it. DOOMED!

What if I discover the treasure?

Then perhaps some measure of my soul may find peace. The part of me that forever seeks the treasure could at least be satisfied.

I find the treasure, you stop wailing. Deal?

If you return with news of treasure, I can rest my cries of sorrow. But beware! They say that a fearsome mosnter guards it. You would not want to join me in my sorrowful haunt.

Now it's time to look for that treasure. Go to chamber 4 (the one that's connected with the Mausoleum) and go all the way up and then to the left. There you will find Jorguss, a giant Spyder that will come to you when you get near. Don't be afraid to get close, it can't hurt you ;) Click on it to continue with the job.

Are you the fearsome treasure monster?

Is that what they're calling me these days? I suppose I am. Aren't you scared of me?

No. As long as you don't eat me.

Ugh, no thanks. I prefer to eat mushrooms. I do have a scary reputation to keep up, but it gets really lonely sometimes, when the only Petpets I see either run away screaming or tey to hit me with a sword, just so they can steal some old family vase. How rude is that?

Old family vase...is that the 'treasure'?

Yep. That's it. The legendary treasure is just an old vase, a family heirloom. It' of no value to anyone but myself.

There's nothing special about it at all?

It can change colou sometimes in the sunlight. It's got just a tiny spark of magic, nothing special. Somehow, though, word got around that the vase had powerful magical properties, and Petpet came flooding in by the hundreds, trying to steal it, so I took it away and hid in the farthest reaches of the tunnels.
Eventually, the whole thing got blown out of proportion. The vase became this mythical treasure, and I became the horrifying monster that guarded it. At least that rumor kept the more cautious treasure seekers away.

Wow, that sounds frustrating. I'm sorry.

I appreciate your sympathy, but I'm resigned to my fate.

After you've talked to Jorguss, go back to chamber 1 and tell Sir Lastahad what you've found about the treasure:

Nothing but an old vase? It appears that the joke is on me, as well as hundreds if other treasure seekers!

These are merely tears of mirth! Oh, but I must thank you! I wondered about this treasure for so long, and now at long last, I have been satisfied...and in such an amusing manner too!
