I need a magic detecting potion.

Then we must find a Petpet who makes potions!

What about Elrik?

Splendid idea! It will be good potion-making practice for Elrik anyway. Find him in Pool of Illusion!
Once you have that, search for the crown!

One drop from this potion is all you need. If there is anything in the water that shouldn't be there, the potion will turn a dark, shimmering blue.

Now, go to Laughing Springs. Click on the rippling water next to the bridge Professor Gillbert is standing on.

You peer over the side of the bridge into the water. The water ripples gently in the breeze.

Pour in the Underwater Detecting Potion.

A ripple in the water begins turning a dark, shimmering blue.

Reach into the water there.

You pull out the Carnival Crown!

Wait 'til Professor Gillbert sees this!

Make sure Aquatic Silk is in your backpack instead of your vault, then return to Professor Gillbert, and talk to him.
